Trauma & PTSD Care | Vista Mental Health

Traumatic experiences can leave a lasting imprint on the mind and body, affecting how you feel, think, and move through the world. At Vista Mental Health, we offer compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals living with trauma and PTSD. Our goal is to help you reclaim a sense of safety, stability, and hope.

Conditions We Treat

Trauma can stem from many experiences, and its effects are deeply personal. We provide evaluation and care for:

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance, emotional numbing, or avoidance following a traumatic event
Acute Stress Disorder: intense stress reactions in the immediate aftermath of trauma
Complex PTSD (C-PTSD): patterns of trauma responses arising from prolonged or repeated traumatic experiences
Trauma-related anxiety and depression: mood and anxiety symptoms that develop as a result of past traumatic experiences

What We Offer

Diagnosis & Assessment: We begin with a thorough, sensitive evaluation to understand your history, symptoms, and goals. This allows us to design a care plan tailored to your unique experience.

Medication Management: When appropriate, we prescribe and carefully monitor evidence-based medications for PTSD and trauma-related symptoms. These may include FDA-approved antidepressants, anti-anxiety agents, and other clinically appropriate options selected to help reduce symptoms like nightmares, anxiety, and hyperarousal.

Therapy: We offer two of the most well-researched and effective therapies for trauma.

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT): A structured approach that helps you process traumatic memories, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and develop healthier coping strategies.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): A specialized therapy that uses guided eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories and gradually reduce their emotional intensity.

Biofeedback: Trauma affects the body as well as the mind. Biofeedback helps you learn to recognize and regulate your body’s stress responses in real time. This can reduce hyperarousal, improve emotional regulation, and support the work done in therapy.
